U19b Session I Game Recaps

2006

Alexandera 3 Alexander 0

Alexander struggled a bit in the final game of the session falling 3-0 to the other Alexander team.  Alexander had several great chances to score but couldn't find the net or solve the goaltender on the other side.  Julia and Stacey both had great chances on net in the 2nd half but Ally came up with the save both times.  Alexander had only a couple breakdowns in the back, but they were all put into the back of the net.  Hannah had 8 saves in net for Alexander.  1st star in the game went to Stacey who created problems in the middle of the field and did a solid job in the back winning a lot of balls out of the air.  2nd star went to Rachel who worked the ball well on the outside of the field and had some nice passing into the center.  3rd star went to Jamie who did a solid job of marking in the back and was solid out of the air.  Good job girls.

West Seneca 2 Alexander 0

Needing just a tie to get into the finals Alexander would come up on the short end of a 2-0 score.  Alexander had several good chances to score but instead found the post or cross bar and was unable to get one past the West Seneca keeper.  West Seneca's top forward was kept under wraps most of the night by Emmy but she broke lose twice and finished off great looking shots to give West Seneca the win and send them into the finals against Attica next week.  Alexander finished up in 3rd place and will play the other Alexander team in the 3rd/4th place game next week.

Alexander 4 Attica 3

Just fresh from a basketball scrimmage, the girls took on an undermanned Attica team. At 4:00 minutes in, Sidney placed a huge throw in at Kristi’s feet, near the 18, Kristi turning the ball, making a move around a girl and inside the 18 and then placing the ball in net just to the left of the goalie, Alexander scored first. Attica came back a few minutes later with a score of their own. Kat scored a goal that was retracted, due to the lights going out a split second after the shot. (Ref didn’t see it go in) We sat in the dark awhile. After the lights came back on,  Alexander’s “over-confident” young players, allowed another goal, leaving Attica up 2-1 at half time. The second half brought a change in positioning on the field(switching some defenders with midfielders). 3:00 minutes in Stacey got a breakaway, up the middle and scored, tying the game.  Attica again came back and scored.  At 14:00 minutes, Alexander pelted  the goalie with multiple shots, Stacey scoring again on a goalie rebound. A minute and a half later Stacey scored on a cross pass from Anna. The game ended 4-3, Alexander winning. First star goes to Stacey, (determined not to lose), and scoring a “Hat-trick”. 2nd star to Kristi for her goal. 3rd star to Sid for her "alesha-Like" headball attempts and hitting the post twice.(Plus playing injured again)

Alexander 3 Alexandera 0

Alexander started off the game short a player or two, due to the early start(9:05), but Megan helped us out by joining our team. The late people arrived and we were ready to go about 5 minutes in. Alexander decided to play the "Short Passing" game, to a great success. First goal came on a thru ball from Stacey, to Rachel cutting towards goal from the left. Rachel placed it in net, just to the side of Rebecca in goal. 8 minutes later a corner kick, meant for Sidney to head in, ended up getting a direct kick when Sidney was fouled(shirt pull) going up for the head ball. Stacey slammed it to the back of the net. The first half ended 2 - 0. Changing tactics to a defensively based mid-field, Alexander played with one forward and doubled up center midfield to try and contain Dee and Kim. Alyssa, Sidney, Rachel, and Kristi did a fantastic job. Amber, Megan and Anna kept the offensive pressure on, not giving the other teams defense a rest. Alexander scored again on a drive up the middle, with Sidney passing to Rachel for a goal. Alexander's defense had a fantastic night, with Stacey, Jamie, and Emily in the back and Hannah in goal. Hannah had 3 saves, and they all earned the shut out. First star goes to Rachel for her 2 goals and helping shut down the other teams scoring. Sidney and Alyssa get stars for shutting down the middle of the field, not much made it thru them. #rd star goes to the whole team. tThat was an AWESOME passing game and an AWESOME containment game. GREAT game girls.

West Seneca 1 Alexander 0

Alexander was short players due to the play, but gave West Seneca a great game and only gave up one goal.  Hannah had 13 saves in net including a couple highlight reel diving stops in the 2nd half to keep Alexander in the game.  Alexander got a few chances on net in the game but was unable to find the net and in the end fell by the 1-0 score.  Sid headed a corner from Stacey that nearly found its way into the net but the keeper made the save.  Stacey had a couple direct kicks that hit the wall and didn't find their way through for the chance to score.  The defense of Stacey, Sid, and Jamie played tough and didn't give West Seneca all that many good looks on net but in the end not finding the net cost Alexander.  1st star went to Hannah who had a fantastic game in net and the only mistake she made found the net, but a great overall game.  2nd star went to Stacey who kept Alexander strong in the back and had some great passing out of the back.  3rd star went to Sid who was strong on the outside and got involved in the offense throughout the game with some great runs forward.  Good game girls.

Alexander 2 Holland 2

Alexander got off to a fast start in their game against Holland but thanks to an injury had to hold on as Holland stormed back to tie the game at 2 before the final whistle.  Alexander got the scoring started as Rachel fired a left footed shot into the net to make the score 1-0 early.  Kat charged the goalie early in the 2nd half and had the ball go in off her leg as the goalie tried to clear it to make it 2-0.  Stacey was hurt early on and Alexander was forced to play with only one center mid the rest of the game and it hurt in the end as the players started to wear down.  Sid, Jamie, and Emmy played the entire game in the back and did a great job.  Holland's first goal was a great shot that Hannah had no chance at.  The 2nd goal was on a great play on a corner where a defender pinched all the way up to the back post and buried the shot to tie the game at 2.  Anna had a couple great chances to put Alexander back ahead but wasn't able to get it in the net and the score finished up at 2-2.  1st star in the game went to Alyssa who played a great game and stepped in at center mid and played nearly the entire half after Stacey went down with the injury.  2nd star went to Rachel who picked up a goal and did a great job on the outside of the field.  3rd star went to Sid who was strong in her first game off full time center back play.  Great game girls, next week will be tough as we will be short due to the play but lets work hard and see what happens.
