U19a Session I Game Recaps
2006
Alexander 3 Alexanderb 0
Alexander had a rematch with the other Alexander team in the
3rd/4th place game and came away with a solid victory. Alexander had
periods where they controlled the ball with some great passing and it paid
off. Alexander struck first early in the 2nd half as Court had a great run
down the right side of the field and fired the ball in the near side. Kim
picked up Alexander's 2nd goal on a great shot from the center of the
field. Alexander's 3rd goal was scored as Janee pounced on a rebound from
Courts shot and put it in the back of the net. Ally had 5 saves in net to
pick up the shutout including stopping Stacey from point blank range and
stopping Julia on a breakaway. Alexander's defense played well throughout
the game making sure that there were few open players and moving the ball
forward whenever they got the chance. 1st star in the game went to Court
who brought her A-game in what may have been her final game at Sahlen's in an
Alexander uniform picking up a goal and an assist and having several other great
runs. 2nd star went to Kim who was solid in the back and picked up a goal
on a great shot. 3rd star went to Miller who played strong in the midfield
in her final game with some nice passing from the center of the field.
Good job girls.
Alexander 2 Depew 0
Alexander was looking for a win to move up a spot in the
standings and get into the 3rd/4th place game. They went out and did just
that playing without several of their players but coming away with the victory
anyways. Alexander's first goal was scored by Kim on a direct kick that
she blasted into the net. Alexander's 2nd goal was scored by Miller off of
a corner kick to put the game away late. Alexander got the shutout in net
from Ally and a strong performance from their defense. Nice job girls.

Alexander was short a few players due to injury and vacation, but
looked to defeat the other Alexander team in a much-anticipated match up.
Unfortunately, Alexander came out on the wrong end of a 3-0 score. With
Ally on vacation Miller would take to the net in the first half. The
defense of Kim, Ginny, Molly and Claire played strong in the back, but had a
difficult time containing a few of the opposing players. Miller had to
face several tough shots but would allow 2 in the goal that she had no chance of
saving. With no subs the midfield of D, Carissa, and Autumn were put to
the test marking some very fast girls. Up top Lin, Janee, Courtney and
Calli did their best to get shots off but couldn’t find a real rhythm.
On the wrong end of a 2-0 score at halftime positions were rearranged and Molly
would find herself in goal. The new defense of Miller, Claire and Ginny
really stood their ground. Miller had many great saves in front of the net
that would have surely found their way to the back of the net. With Kim,
D, Carissa, Autumn and Janee now all at mid there were more opportunities for
some breathers. Unfortunately, Kim’s knee found the wall and one of her
own players on it and was out the rest of the game. That loss would allow
the other Alexander team to capitalize giving them their 3rd and final goal for
the night. Up top Lin, Court and Calli did their best, with one of Lins
shots hitting the post only to pop out and the other goalie dove on it for the
save. A hard fought battle by all in attendance but at the end of the game
were out passed which set up the scoring by the other team. 1st star of
the game goes to Miller, did a great job in the net, was aggressive on defense,
had great clearances and let nobody by her in the second half. 2nd star
goes to Kim and D, both did great jobs in the middle marking some fast people,
making their own runs and standing tall on the defensive end of the field.
3rd star goes to Claire, did well on outside defense, stuck to her mark well,
let little by her on the right side of the field, and stepped up her game to
play with the “big girls”! Lets hope for a better outcome next time ~
hopefully if we meet them again in the finals.
Depew 1 Alexander 0
Alexander was a bit short due to injuries to two players but played Depew tough and had chances to score throughout the game. The defense played strong in the back and only gave up one goal to Depew but it proved to be enough to send Alexander to the 1-0 loss. D and Court had some nice chances on goal but were unable to put one into the net. 1st star in the game went to Carissa who had a great game on the outside of the field with some nice crosses and dribbling. 2nd star went to Court who had some great runs up top and had some good chances on goal. 3rd star went to Miller who had a nice game at outside mid and center defense with some nice passes and good one on one defending.
Alexander 2 West Seneca 1
Alexander started off their indoor session with a solid 2-1 win over West Seneca. Alexander came out strong in the beginning of the game with some great passing throughout the game. D, Lin, Court, Miller, and Carissa started the game off with some great ball movement around the field and were putting shots on net. The first goal of the game came as Alesha put a shot in off the post to make it 1-0 in the first half. Alexander would double their lead in the 2nd half as D fired a shot in on net that sailed over the keepers head and in. Alexander gave up a late goal as Ally made the initial save but the rebound was put into the back of the net. Alexander's defense held strong from there to keep the game 2-1. 1st star in the game went to Kim who had a great game in the center of the field. Won a lot of balls and had some great passing out of the back. 2nd star went to D who moved the ball well up top and on the outside and had a great shot to pick up a goal. 3rd star went to Alesha who won a ton of balls in the back and helped out in the offense a great deal picking up a goal. Nice game ladies.
