Sahlen's Sports Park Indoor League Session I

Game Summaries:

Upstate 1 Alexander 1 (Upstate 3-2 in shootout)

Just a tough way to lose the title game.  After going up 1-0 we let them tie the game midway through the 2nd half.  Going into a shootout and keeping pace for the first two shots.  The third one was saved by the Upstate keeper and we came up that much short.  The game was a great game overall.  We pushed the ball forward on them all game long and had a couple decent shots that just missed.  Johna made some hugh saves in the back.  Sticks, Whit, and Nicki had some great passing going.  Theresa, Laura and Cordes all played very well.  The D had a nice day shutting down their big threat even though she got lose a couple times, she only got off one or two decent shots.  Overall I think we outplayed them, but that is just how soccer goes sometimes.  1st star to Whit who had a very nice overall game of passing, D, and pushing forward.  A couple great through balls.  2nd star to Carm, thought it was her best game of the session in the back shutting down #10 even though it wasn't her mark.  3rd star to Nicki, played a great game in a few different positions, especially as a converted defender when she was there for around 10 minutes.  Nice session girls, we almost did it!

Alexander 2 Bears 0

Good overall game, we scored 2 goals in the first half and then cruised home to the relatively easy shutout win.  Prattmiester picked up the first goal on a Raponi assist and then Raponi finished off the scoring with a half field shot that went in over the goalies head.  Johna and Kim combined on another shutout and a solid team defensive performance was turned in to keep the Bears out of out end.  1st star goes to Raponi who lead the scoring attack, had some great passes, and nearly picked up a couple more goals.  Some sweet head balls and skips.  2nd star to Whitensplit who had a solid all around game in the middle.  Had a load of nice passes, great touch on the ball and good vision.  3rd star to Carm who had a solid day in the back and ran down a couple potential breakaways that the Bears had in the 1st and 2nd half.  Some great passing out of the back also.  Good overall team game, get ready for the finals and our shot at the trophy!

Alexander 3 SBSC 3

Solid team effort put in.  It looked like lots of our BBallers were a little tired which meant that the tie was a good finish.  We still finished in 2nd place before the playoffs which is a very good job for the first time the team played together.  Scoring for Alexander was Sticks, Laura, and the Prattmiester.  1st star goes to Laura, had a very nice game, drove the ball forward well, had a nice goal and had several other shots that just missed.  2nd star to the Prattmisester, had a nice game from what I saw (just the 2nd half).  Picked up a goal and had some good pushes forward.  3rd star to Whit, another solid game in the midfield, passing, playing D, and firing some shots.  Everyone played a great 2nd half, sorry I didn't see the 1st half.  Good team effort and lets do some damage in the playoffs.

Upstate 4 Alexander 3

We lost a tough game last night 4-3. After a slow 2-0 start we battled back to tie it 3-3, but couldn't hold them out of our end and ended up losing 4-3. We played a very solid 2nd half, but the 2-0 start killed us. Game ball goes to Laura, played a very good game. Johna played a great game in goal and in the field. Sticks had another nice goal and played a good game. Shari and Nicki both turned in solid performances in the midfield.
