RDYSL U16 Game Recaps
2009
Alexander 3 Bergen 0
Alexander needed at least a tie to clinch the clubs first ever division title Wednesday and they left no doubt as they beat Bergen 3-0 to close the season out in sole possession of 1st place in the 3rd division of the U16 RDYSL league. After dropping their first game of the season 3-0 in Penfield Alexander was unbeaten in their final 11 games of the season with 8 wins and 3 ties. Alexander had 8 shutouts along the way allowing only 8 goals the entire summer. Julia, Morgan, and Savannah picked up the goals with Morgan and Julia picking up assists. Great season ladies.
Alexander 3 Churchville 2
Alexander moved one step closer to locking up a RDYSL division title with a 3-2 win over Churchville Monday night at home. Alexander jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a rebound goal from Morgan and Summer heading in a corner kick from Autumn. Just before halftime Churchville got a goal back to make it 2-1. Alexander was struggling in the middle part of the game and it caught them again early in the 2nd as Churchville tied the game 2-2. Alexander settled back down and moved he ball better in the final 15 minutes and with under 5 minutes left Morgan hit a pass into Julia's feet and she beat the sweeper 1v1 then finished in the left side of the net to put Alexander back on top 3-2. The defense held from there and Alexander moved into a tie with Penfield atop the standings. Alexander and Penfield split their games this year so the 2nd tiebreaker is goal differential which Penfield wins which means Alexander needs a tie or win in their final game against Bergen to claim the division title. Great job girls.
Alexander 2 Hilton 0
Alexander played very well for most of the game and came away with a 2-0 win. Megan and Kylie scored the goals while Autumn and Summer picked up the assists. The win kept Alexander's championship hopes alive going into the final week of games. They play Churchville and Bergen and will need 4 points total to take over sole possession of 1st place. Amanda picked up her first solo win and shutout of the summer making 7 saves. Great job girls.
Alexander 1 River Flow 1
Alexander was unlucky not to find the back of the net more than one time in this game but came away with a tie which kept them tied for 2nd in the standings with River Flow (who has played one more game than Alexander). Julia Pettys missed the left post by inches early in the game and then hit the right post and the crossbar before halftime was over. River Flow scored early in the 2nd half to go up 1-0 but Alexander answered right back as Summer drilled a header home off a corner from Autumn to tie it at one. Julia had a breakway stopped by the goalie and Morgan just missed punching the rebound in. Megan and Ashley just missed punching home two beautiful crosses, and Summer and others couldn't punch in a late direct kick from just in front of the goal. Despite all the misses Alexander moved the ball well, communicated better than they have been, and won a majority of the balls in the air. 3 games remain in the season and Alexander will need 3 wins to have a chance at winning the division.
Alexander 0 River Flow 0
Alexander had a solid effort in picking up a 0-0 tie against River Flow who they are also tied for 2nd in points with. The two teams will face off Monday in Alexander. River Flow has played one more game than Alexander so the tie did not hurt Alexander in the standings. With 4 games left Alexander will need to win 3 if not all 4 of the games to have a chance to win their division this summer and get to move up next summer.
Alexander 1 Penfield 0
Alexander picked up their 5th win in a row and remained unbeaten in their last 6 games as they knocked off 1st place Penfield at home. Amber scored the games lone goal off an assist from Autumn shortly into the 2nd half. Alexander dominated possession during the 1st half but found themselves chasing the play and needing some big saves from Hannah in goal to keep the game 1-0. Hannah had 11 saves in goal (8 in the 2nd half) to keep Penfield off the scoreboard. Alexander has 2 games against 2nd place River Flow coming up which will go a long way to dictate how they will finish this season.
Alexander 1 Holley 0
Alexander finished off the 1st half of the season by eeking out a 1-0 win over Bergen. Alexander now has 3 very difficult games coming up with Monday's game against Penfield who is the only team to beat Alexander this summer and then two games against River Flow who is currently in 2nd place ahead of Alexander. Kylie picked up the games lone goal from Claire while Lauren and Amanda shared in the win and shutout in net.
Alexander 2 Holley 0
Alexander traveled to Holley and got goals from Autumn and Megan to come away with the 2-0 win. It was the 3rd win in a row for Alexander as they climbed into the top 4 in the league and will look to continue that climb with a game against Bergen next week before a rematch with 1st place Penfield after that. Alexander has looked much stronger the last few games after a very slow start to the season. Good job girls.
Alexander 3 Churchville 2
Alexander picked up a solid win over 2nd place Churchville getting goals from Megan, Amber, and Kylie. Alexander has been showing improvement every game and looks to continue their climb up the rankings in the 3rd division of U16 this summer.
Alexander 7 Holley 0
Alexander had a very good performance in a 7-0 win over Holley at home. Alexander got goals from several different players (and once I get the stats I will post them) and played some strong team defense throughout limiting Holley to only 5 shots on goal, all of which were saved by Hannah in her 2nd straight shutout. The ball movement was great for the majority of the game although it did slow down a bit towards the end as Alexander began to wear out. Nice job girls, we need a few more performances like this as we move forward with the summer season.
Hilton 0 Alexander 0
Alexander's 2nd game went a bit better than the 1st but the scoring struggles continued as they finished in a scoreless 0-0 tie with Hilton. Alexander's offense had more life to it but they were unable to find the back of the net despite several opportunities.
Penfield 3 Alexander 0
Alexander had a tough start to the summer season falling 3-0 to Penfield. Alexander looked quite rusty in many of the girls first time on a soccer field in months as practice attendance has been poor at best. The 2nd half looked a bit better than the first half but there is a long way to go for this group in order to be competitive in many games this summer.
