RDYSL U14 Game Recaps

2009

Alexander 1 Kendall 1

Alexander faced off against Kendall in the last game of the season and although it didn't mean anything as far as the division title went but Alexander didn't want to lose in their final game.  Kendall scored with about 15 minutes left but Hannah found Chrissy on a through ball shortly after that to tie the game.  Jess was busy in goal in the 2nd half making several nice saves.  The girls finished 5 points better than anyone else in the league and will move up a division next year.  Great job girls.

Alexander 4 GVBBSC 0

Alexander clinched the division title with a win over GVBBSC at home.  Maria had 2 goals, while Lydia and Chrissy each had 1.  Lydia, Jess, Gabby, and Maria all picked up assists.  Jess and Chrissy again had a shutout and win in net.  Great season ladies

Alexander 3 Spencerport 0

Alexander avenged their first loss of the season to Spencerport by knocking them off at home 3-0.  Lydia had 2 goals and Korie added 1.  Maria had an assist as did Eliza.  Jess and Chrissy did a nice job in goal picking up their 7th combined win and 5th combined shutout.  The girls moved back into 1st place with the win and will look for a good result Thursday and/or Friday to clinch the division title as the U16 did on Thursday.

Alexander 3 Wheatland 3

Alexander had only 9 players but fought hard all game and earned a 3-3 tie.  Alexander went up early 1-0 before falling behind 2-1 before the half.  Alexander fought back to tie the game at 2 only to see a PK with less than 10 minutes left put Wheatland up 3-2.  However the girls continued battling hard and Maria put a ball in the net to tie it at 3 with under 5 minutes left.  The score remained 3-3 and Alexander earned a very hard fought tie.  Alexander has 3 games remaining, all players returning from vacation, and need a good performance to close the season to have a chance to win their division.

Wayne 5 Alexander 0

Alexander had only 7 players at the game but did a great job working hard and could have easily put a couple in the net and was unlucky not to.  Ashlee, Sydney, Hannah, Burgandy, Lydia, Emily, and Eliza did a great job playing down 10 versus 7 the entire game.  Everyone took a turn in goal and no one gave up more than one goal.  Great performance ladies.

Spencerport 3 Alexander 2

Alexander's winning streak came to an end in the final 7 minutes of their game against Spencerport.  Alexander had built a 2-0 lead and held onto it until Spencerport finally got on the board to make it 2-1 with 7 minutes left.  Just a couple minutes later a foul near the top of the 18 resulted in a direct kick which was shot into the corner to make it 2-2.  Just a short time after that a foul in the box resulted in a PK which was shot into the corner to make it 3-2.  Alexander remains on top of the division but has a difficult week ahead of them where they will play short handed all week and hope to pick up a few points if possible.

Alexander 3 GVBBSC 1

Alexander remained unbeaten and moved another step closer to locking up the division title despite only playing half their games.  Lydia, Maria, and Sydney scored the goals for Alexander while Jess and Chrissy combined on their 6th straight win.  Alexander has a game at Spencerport Thursday which is a key in their title quest as they will only have 10 players for 3 games next week and will look to survive those 3 games before closing the season with their full squad in the final week.

Alexander 3 Kendall 0

Alexander continued their strong play as they regained 1st place and moved to 5-0 on the summer with a 3-0 win over Kendall.  Chrissy, Jess, and Maria each scored a goal while Jess and Chrissy shared the goalie duties in picking up their 5th straight win.

Alexander 2 Bloomfield 0

Alexander had another strong game shutting out Bloomfield to move to 4-0 on the summer and pull into 1st place despite playing 3 less games than most of the other teams.  Lydia found the net and Eliza picked up her first goal of the summer to pace Alexander on offense while the defense continued to be strong in pitching their 3rd shutout in 4 games this summer.  Alexander has a huge game against Kendall who is 2-0-2 on the season.  It should be a great game next Tuesday between these two teams.  Nice job girls, keep up the good work.

Alexander 4 Pittsford 2

Alexander had another strong game against the 1st place team from Pittsford as they dispatched them at home by a 4-2 count.  Maria had 3 goals and Lydia had 1 while Jess and Chrissy combined on the win each allowing one goal.  Alexander's passing was much improved over the first 2 games and the defense continued its excellent play.

Alexander 2 Wheatland 0

Alexander followed up their strong performance this weekend in the U13 division of the Shootout Tournament with a solid all around performance in their 2nd league game as they moved to 2-0 on the season.  Alexander scored early as Gabby took a direct kick and Lydia cleaned up the rebound early in the game.  Alexander had strong defense throughout the game and Chrissy made just 3 saves in the 1st half, but one was a diving stop to keep the score 1-0.  In the 2nd half Alexander spent most of the time in the Wheatland end but couldn't put a 2nd goal in until late in the game when Lydia played a nice pass that sprung Mia on goal and she finished it off to give Alexander the 2-0 lead.  Jess made only one save in the 2nd half to keep the shutout.  Alexander looked strong throughout and faces the 1st place Pittsford at home Tuesday.

Alexander 1 Wayne 0

Alexander played a solid game in their opener of the summer.  Despite many of the players not seeing a ball in a while Alexander managed to string together some passes and played solid defense throughout the game.  Alexander picked up the game's lone goal in the 1st half as Sarah took a corner and Gabby put it in the goal.  Chrissy and Jess combined for the shutout in net both making some nice saves to help keep Wayne off the board.  Nice job girls.
