RDYSL U17 Girls 2010 Game Summaries
Alexander 1 Lancers 0
Alexander found a way to close the season out on a strong note. Playing with only 12 players Alexander came up with a win over the 3rd place team in the league thanks to a late goal from Julia, some sound defending from Claire, Summer, and MacKenna, and some strong goalkeeping from Chrissy. Everyone worked hard in an unfamiliar 3-5-2 formation and it was a great way to end the season. Nice job girls.
Greece 5 Alexander 1
Alexander had a great 1st half and then a poor 2nd half and fell 5-1 in their first game of the season. Alexander jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Megan M off a direct kick from Savannah. Greece tied it just before half. It continued to rain and was humid and that took its toll on an Alexander team that was far from in soccer shape. Players started to cramp and Greece clearly was more fit than Alexander as they got 4 2nd half goals to make the final 5-1.
Alexander 1 Irondequoit 0
Alexander didn't have their best performance against Irondequoit (who played with 9 players the entire game) but they did manage to pull out the win thanks to a goal by Megan Schmieder. Chrissy made a couple key saves to keep Irondequoit off the board. Solid job girls.
Holley 6 Alexander 0
Alexander had to play the game with only 1 sub due to a variety of reasons and ended up on the wrong end of an ugly score. The girls turn around and play Holley again on Thursday and hopefully will have all their subs to give Holley a better game.
Lancers 2 Alexander 0
Alexander played a much better game and was on the wrong end of a 2-0 score that wasn't a great indication of how the game went. Alexander got off to a slower start than they would have liked but battled tough throughout holding a strong majority of the possession moving the ball well throughout the game. The Lancers got a goal off a long ball that got past the last defender and they won the footrace to go up 1-0. They also got a goal on a rebound that didn't get cleared after another long ball footrace. Alexander had several great chances but the Lancers goalie came up big. Chrissy had 10 saves including a diving stop in the middle of the 2nd half to keep the game close. The passing and movement off the ball was great and I thought we showed a lot of progress from the last couple games.
