Alexander @ Medina U19 Tournament

Alexander played in their 1st tournament of the year and came away with a fantastic performance in finishing in 2nd place.  Alexander started the day with a 1-0 win over the Lancers (Hein) with Amber scoring off an assist from Autumn and Hannah making 8 saves.  In the 2nd game Alexander beat the YMCA/ND team 3-1 with goals from Summer, Kylie, and Amber and assists from Tessa, Claire, and Ashley.  Hannah had 4 saves in net.  Alexander won their 3rd game 1-0 over Gananda with Kylie scoring a very pretty goal off an assist from Savannah with Hannah making 6 saves.  Alexander earned the top seed in the playoffs and faced the Lancers (Hein) in the semi-finals.  Alexander came away with a 2-0 win getting goals from Kylie and Tessa with Kylie also picking up an assist while Hannah had 8 saves in goal.  Alexander faced the Lancers (Chilano) in the finals and played hard but lost 3-1.  After giving up an early goal Tessa scored a nice goal to make the score 1-1.  Alexander gave up a goal they would like to have back to go down 2-1 and the Lancers tacked on a nice 3rd goal to make it 3-1.  Hannah made 10 saves in the final including a couple great diving stops from point blank.

It was a fantastic day as Alexander's defense really had a great day with Claire, Savannah, Gabby, and Summer getting a lot of help from Autumn and Tessa in the middle.  Up front Amber, Kylie, and Ashley did a great job moving the ball as everyone contributed on both ends of the floor.  Alexander had long periods of possession, dropped the ball back multiple times and continually got the ball to the front of the net.  With a little better finishing from in close Alexander easily could have put 5 or 6 more goals on the board during the day.

Player of the day was Kylie who had 3 goals and an assist and was fantastic up front throughout the game.  Hannah also had some highlight reel saves in net.  Goal of the day was Tessa's blast against the Lancers in the final which was buried in the top left corner.

Great job girls - great start to the indoor tournament season.
