Game #1 Alexander faced off against Letchworth 1 and got off to their usual slow start.  There wasn't much movement off the ball and Alexander would fall behind early 1-0.  It looked as if Alexander was not going to pull out a goal and fall in their first game, but Court took a ball in the middle of the floor, beat 2 defenders and ripped a shot in to tie the score at 1.  Alexander would hit a crossbar late in the game and would finish the first game with a 1-1 tie, much better than the 1-0 loss we suffered in the first game last week.  1st star in the game went to Court, played a great game up top and picked up the lone goal.  2nd star went to Buck, awesome job in the back stepping up into the play, had a great all around game.  3rd star went to Alesha who was strong in the back and had a solid all around game.

Game #2 Alexander squared off against Keshequa.  Alexander would jump out early in the game 1-0 thanks to a goal by Kristi off a cross from Buck.  Alexander would go up 2-0 a short time later when Alesha finished off a pass from Julia to make it 2-0.  Alexander still wasn't having much movement without the ball but it wasn't costing them as Keshequa was playing pretty stationary also.  Keshequa got a goal to make it 2-1 late in the game but Leslie stopped them the rest of the way to keep the score 2-1 and give Alexander the win.  1st star in the game went to Buck who did a great job at forward, picked up an assist and had a fantastic game.  2nd star went to Alesha who was all over the floor, picked up her first (of what would be 7) goal of the day and was great in the back.  3rd star went to Julia was was solid in the middle and had some great dribbling/possession of the ball.

Game #3 Alexander played against Warsaw and despite continuing to be very stationary off the ball they had Warsaw outmatched and it didn't cost them in the end.  Alexander would go up early as Lin finished off a pass from Julia to make it 1-0.  The score was 2-0 a short time later as Alesha finished off a pass from Court.  Alexander moved it to 3-0 as Alesha scored her 2nd of the game off a pass from Lin.  Court put Alexander up 4-0 off a pass from Alesha and Kristi closed the scoring out on a great shot to make it 5-0.  Alexander played solid soccer, but lacked much activity off the ball throughout the game.  1st star went to Alesha, was a force all over the floor and picked up 2 goals and an assist.  2nd star went to Court who had some great passing and runs without the ball up top.  3rd star went to Stacey who was solid in the back and had some great shots, just didn't find the net.

Game #4 was against Arkport and this time Alexander came to play.  There was movement off the ball like you wouldn't believe and it paid off with a great all around game.  Alexander got their first 2 goals from Julia, off of assists from Stacey and Buck to make it 2-0 early.  Alesha put Alexander up 3-0 finishing off an assist from Buck.  Court would make it 4-0 finishing off a pass from Stacey, while Stacey would put Alexander up 5-0 when she finished off a cross from Lin.  Alexander had great movement off the ball throughout the game and it showed.  Alexander would lose the shutout with just a few minutes left to make the final 5-1.  1st star in the game went to Stacey who was up and down the floor and factored into 3 goals on the game.  2nd star in the game went to Emmy who had some great runs out of the back, solid passing, and great one on one defending.  3rd star went to Buck who had another great game at forward picking up 2 assists.

Alexander entered the playoffs as the #1 seed and faced off against Letchworth2 in the Semi-finals.  Alexander came out strong and never looked back as Stacey put Alexander up 1-0 off a pass from Court.  Alesha would finish off a Stacey pass to make it 2-0.  Kristi converted a Julia assist to make it 3-0.  Alesha would make it 4-0 and Lin would finish up the scoring making it 5-0.  Leslie had a great game in goal making 6 saves to pick up her 4th win and 2nd shutout of the day.  1st star in the game went to Alesha who picked up 2 more goals and had a great game in the back.  2nd star went to Stacey who was all over the floor again and picked up a goal and an assist.  3rd star went to Leslie who had some fantastic saves in net and picked up the shutout.

The finals saw Alexander face off against Letchworth1 for the title.  Alexander would go up 1-0 early as Alesha picked up her 7th goal of the game to make it 1-0.  Letchworth would tie it at 1 midway through the game.  Alexander would go back on top 2-1 as Stacey finished off a nice pass from Lin.  Letchworth would tie the game 2-2 with a few minutes left.  Alexander had a close call with just a couple minutes left as Leslie saved a ball that was nearly under the net to keep the score 2-2 throughout the 20 minutes.  The final would be decided in overtime (as is Alexander's policy).  Alexander came out in OT a little slow and had a couple scrambles in front of their net but Letchworth didn't get a good shot off.  Alexander would end the game just over 3 minutes into the OT as Julia finished off a pass from Court to give Alexander the 3-2 win and the title.  1st star went to Alesha, another great game in the back and stepped up into the play well.  2nd star went to Buck who was awesome up top and solid in the back with great passes and excellent marking.  3rd star went to Julia and Court, who put the game away for Alexander in OT.

A great job to all the girls, our first tournament title at the varsity level in over 4 years.  Everyone played well throughout the day, a very nice day of soccer for everyone involved.
