| Alexander had a very good day at the Houghton Tournament. In the first game Alexander faced off against Greece Athena and came away with a 2-1 win. Anna scored first to put Alexander up 1-0 and Amber scored 2nd off an Anna pass to make it 2-0. Alexander would give up a late goal to make the final 2-1. Chelsey had 5 saves in net to pick up the win. Alexander won their 2nd game 1-0 over Fillmore with Anna scoring the goal off a long kick from Autumn after the ball had gone out of bounds. The defense was great in the back stopping Fillmore's chances before they could get a good shot off. Alexander was beaten in their 3rd game but STU and didn't put forth their best effort. Chelsey made 7 stops in net. Alexander got a bye in the first round of the playoffs for winning their group and faced off against Addison after Addison had knocked off Starpoint in OT in the prelim. Alexander played a great game and got up 1-0 as Anna notched her 3rd goal of the day. Alexander was playing great defense and Chelsey was making save after save but Addison eventually redirected an indirect kick in front and it found the back of the net to tie the game at 1. The game would go to OT and through the first 5 minutes no one was able to score. The next minute was 4v4 and no one scored. The next minute was 3v3 and no one scored. The next minute was 2v2 and again - no one scored. The last minute was 1v1 and Addison got the kickoff and went down 2v1 using their goalie and got the ball into the net. It ended Alexander's day but it was a great showing. Alexander quickly got in their cars and was off to Sahlen's for for their semi-final league game - and they would make it just in time :-) |
