Alexander 5 Pavilion 0

Alexander faced off against Pavilion and would come away with an impressive 5-0 win with a great team effort from the 15 players in attendance.  Autumn opened up the scoring 15 minutes into the game off a great direct kick just over half field that went over the goalies head and over the line.  The offense led by Amber, Kylie, Morgan and Carolyn and the midfield led by Tessa, Ashley, Kayla, Summer and Megan would all have some excellent passing and footwork making their way up the field.  Several shots were taken but just couldn’t find their way in the back of the net.  The defense did a great job at sticking to their marks, clearing the ball and also passing the ball up to open players.  The score was 1-0 at halftime.  The second half Alexander would come out strong.  1 minute into the half Amber would follow through on a shot that Tessa made putting Alexander up 2-0.  3 minutes later Tessa would take a beautiful left-footed shot that would hit the post and Amber follow through on and would fire past the goalie.  Alexander wouldn’t look back from there.  Kylie would have a crisp through pass to Amber who would take a great shot that would make its way past the goalie.  The defense led by Autumn, Savannah, Claire, Lauren, and Mariah would stand tall and didn’t let much through.  Amber would score her 4th and final goal of the game following through on another great shot that bounced off the goalie making the score 5-0 which would hold up to the final whistle.  The girls showed their versatility late in the game as they moved into new positions and held the shutout.  Hannah would end up with 6 saves and the shutout.  The game was a great team effort with everybody charging and running through the ball, dribbling with their heads up, great footwork and passing, finding the open player, and excellent communication.  1st star goes to Amber, had 4 goals, followed through on every shot taken, excellent footwork, dribbling and passing, and used her speed to get past the defenders.  2nd star goes to Tessa, had 2 assists, ran everything down, excellent passing and footwork, great shots on goal, came back to help on defense.  3rd star goes to Kayla, ran through the ball with her body, great passing and dribbling.  Great job everybody ~ lets play this well together all the time!

LeRoy 5 Alexander 2

Alexander would face off against another tough LeRoy team and lost 5-2.  Alexander would start the game off strong and score 6 minutes into the game off a great throw in from Tessa that Amber would turn and rip pass the goalie for the score.  2 mintues later Autumn would have a wonderful corner kick that hooked in the upper far corner of the net making the score 2-0.  The midfield and offense was working together with great passing, footwork, crosses and communication, while the defense was working well at clearing the ball and shutting LeRoys offense down.  Halfway through the half there would be a handball in the penalty area which LeRoy would convert into a score off a great penalty kick.  LeRoy would score once more in the half to make it a 2-2 game at halftime.  With the score tied up Alexander still wasn’t out of this game if they could just start to work together again.  The second half Alexander looked to regroup but couldn’t get things together allowing LeRoy to score 3 more times in the game.  Alexander would get down on themselves and on others and didn’t keep their heads in the game.  Passing was off, and only 1 shot was taken the entire second half.  Marks were missed and too many crosses by LeRoy were allowed giving them some great shots on goal.  Hannah ended the night with 5 saves.  1st star goes to Claire, great effort on defense, stuck to her mark, good clearance of the ball.  2nd star goes to Amber, had 1 goal, tried working the ball up the field, and had some good passes.  3rd star goes to Ashley, stuck to her mark, covered on defense, had some good passing and tried working up the field.  If Alexander should meet this LeRoy team again in the GYSL Tournament a better team effort will be tried for.

Alexander 1 Albion 1

Alexander faced off against an aggressive Albion team on Tuesday night and came away with a hard fought 1-1 tie.  Alexander was facing a team that had a large number of subs which made them work that much harder.  From the opening whistle both teams came out aggressive.  Play was up and back for both sides.  Alexanders defense led by Savannah, Claire, Autumn, Lauren, and Mariah stood their ground only allowing a handful of shots on net.  The forwards and mids led by Morgan, Amber, Kylie, Carolyn, Ashley, Megan, Summer, Kayla, Tessa and Autumn worked the ball up the field running through the ball, using their drops, passing and shooting but they just couldn’t find the net.  The score remained 0-0 at halftime.  Throughout the game Alexander was awarded many direct kicks due to some over aggressive play.  8 minutes into the second half Alexander would capitalize on just that.  Autumn would take a direct kick from just outside the 18 which Kylie would pass to Amber who had a nice shot that found the back of the net.  Alexander would continue to stay strong in the back and work the ball up top but wasn’t able to increase their lead.  Albion continued to keep fresh legs on the field while Alexander started to wear down.  With 10 minutes left in the game Albion would press up the field.  After many attempts from Alexander trying to clear the ball from inside the penalty box Albion would take advantage of the confusion and score.  The 1-1 score would hold up to the final whistle.  Hannah had another excellent night in goal making 10 saves in the net.  1st star goes to Hannah, another outstanding game in the net, made some very difficult saves.  2nd star goes to Claire, great job in the back, good defending, won the ball, and had some excellent passing out of the back.  3rd star goes to Amber, had 1 goal, great passing, followed through on shots, and used her speed!  Good hard fought game girls!

Batavia Tournament

Alexander's U13 team entered into the Batavia tournament and came away with 2 losses and 2 ties.  Alexander easily could have won the 1st two games if they had just been able to find the net a couple more times, but the last two opponents that Alexander faced were very tough teams.  Picking up player of the game patches for Alexander were Claire, Hannah (twice), and Summer.  Nice job girls.

LeRoy 3 Alexander 1

Alexander faced off against a tough LeRoy team and came away on the wrong end of a 3-1 score.  From the opening whistle Alexander knew that they were in for a tough game.  LeRoy controlled the ball for much of the first half but a solid defense led by Sidney, Claire, Savannah, Lauren and Mariah would hold LeRoy scoreless until 30 minutes into the first half.  Alexander would have 3 chances on goal which were all inches from finding the back of the net.  Hannah would come up with 4 incredible saves in the first half.  The score remained 1-0 into halftime.  The second half began just as tough as the first half.  The midfielders and forwards would work together and had some great passing and footwork.  Early in the second half Morgan would go up the line, beat her defender and make a beautiful pass that Amber would tuck in the back of the net.  With the score tied Alexander kept pressing up the field.  Autumn, Tessa, Summer, Amber, Marian, Morgan, and Savannah would all take shots but just couldn’t find the back of the net.  Then late in the second half Hannah would have a great save but took a hard kick in the stomach allowing the ball to come loose and cross over the line for a score.  Eight minutes later LeRoy would capitalize on a lost mark making the score 3-1 which would hold up until the final whistle.  Alexander came out with a lot of heart and played an excellent game.  The forwards led by Morgan, Amber, Kylie, and Marian worked well with the midfielders led by Autumn, Tessa, Megan, Ashley, Summer, and Kayla.  Passing and communication was the best seen so far this season.  Several shots on goal were inches from making it in.  1st star in the game went to Hannah, had 8 incredible saves, played strong in the net, and took control.  2nd star goes to Sid, ran almost everything down, good clearances, and knocked some people around in the back.  3rd star goes to Autumn, very nice passing and footwork in the middle of the field, had a few very close shots on goal ~ and one that actually made it in but wasn’t credited.  Excellent job girls ~ lets come out with this much heart in all our games!

Alexander 7 Attica 0

Alexander kicked off U14 play with an impressive 7-0 win over Attica with a great team effort from the 13 players in attendance.  Alexander jumped off to an early lead with Sidney knocking in a goal off of her own corner kick.  Attica had one breakaway in the half but was met by Sid who sprinted back from half field to knock the ball away at the 6 yard line.  Late in the first half Kylie would score a goal of her own off an excellent cross by Morgan.  Sidney, Claire, Savannah and Mariah all did an excellent job eliminating Atticas offense and getting the ball back to our offense allowing no shots on Hannah.  The 2nd half started off with Morgan scoring the first of her 4 goals of the game by weaving up the field from the kick off beating all her defenders and finding the back of the net in the first 36 seconds of the half.  Alexander wouldn’t look back from there.  Morgan would score the next 2 goals of the game with assists from Ashley and Amber.  Tessa would then get the ball beat her defender and find the back of the net after several prior attempts.  Tessa, Autumn, Summer, Ashley, Savannah and Megan all did a great job at midfield moving the ball around and getting it to open players.  Up top Kylie, Amber, Morgan and Ashley all had nice runs, solid passing and worked their way in for several shots on goal.  Attica wouldn’t give up though.  They had 2 shots on goal which Hannah snatched up.  Morgan would finish the scoring for the night from a nice pass and assist from Ashley.  Alexander controlled the play from the opening whistle to the final whistle.  The final score was 7-0 with all the midfielders and forwards each having at least one shot on goal.  The defense did a superb job holding Attica to only 2 shots on net helping Hannah pick up the shutout. Everybody did a great job with their passing, stepping through the ball and talking throughout the game.  1st star goes to Morgan, 4 goals and 1 assist on the night, great passing, looking as aggressive as ever and played through the ball all game long.  2nd star goes to Summer, very aggressive, playing through the ball and some great passing.  3rd star goes to Sidney, stepped up to play, superb defense, excellent recovery, pushed up the field well and finished with 1 goal.  Great job girls, excellent start to the outdoor season.
