The Alexander Varsity team entered the Albion tournament
on Friday and suffered through a rough night of soccer finishing the day
with a 1-2 record and feeling as though they could have played much
better.
The first game saw Alexander face off against the Lancers U17 team who played with no subs. Alexander came out slow and wasn't moving the ball well. The Lancers would pick up a goal midway through the game and Alexander would never really challenge the net for the rest of the game. Julia and Lin each had some nice shots, but they were mostly high and wide or directly at the keeper. Player of the game was Buck who was strong with her movement off the ball and played some great defense. The 2nd game was equally as frustrating as Alexander faced off against Attica and continued to play stationary soccer and continued to struggle with their passing. Alexander was banging the ball around the floor with no possession or control and it would cost them once again. Alexander would give up a goal to Attica early in the game and again would struggle to get any good looks on net. Alexander would fall 1-0 to Attica eliminating us from any chance at the playoffs. Player of the game for game #2 Court who was fantastic with the ball on her feet creating space and working to get some decent shots. With nothing to lose in the 3rd game having already been eliminated from the playoffs Alexander played nice soccer with lots of motion off the ball and picked up a 5-1 win over Oakfield. Alexander would get 2 goals from Stacey and 1 each from Julia, Lin, and Rachel. Alexander was flowing around the floor much better and moving the ball from side to side with excellent possession throughout the game. Player of the game for game #3 was Stacey who looked strong with the ball, had some great shots, and passed the ball well throughout the game. |
