Alexander @ Addison U15 Tournaments
2008
| Alexander took a single team on the short trip down to Addison and came away with a mixed day of results in the Addison U15 tournament. In game 1 Alexander knocked off STAC 4-2 picking up 2 goals from Sid and one each from Amber and Autumn. Savannah and Amber had single assists and Tessa picked up 2. Hannah made 5 saves in net. In Alexander's next 2 games things went downhill quickly. Playing against Alfred-Almond Alexander had a horrible game and came away with a 0-0 tie with Hannah making 4 saves. In their next game Alexander fell to Canisteo-Greenwood 2-1 getting a goal from Amber assisted by Tessa and having Hannah make 3 saves. This loss dropped Alexander to 3rd place (both CG and AA finished at the bottom of the tournament) and forced them to win their last game and also hold Addison to 2 goals or less. Alexander was up to the challenge as they jumped out early getting a goal from Autumn, one from Savannah, one from Amber, and one from Addison as their goalie kicked it into a defender and into the goal. Amber had an assist and Autumn had 2. This put Alexander into the semi-finals as the 2nd seed from their group (behind STAC who they beat in the 1st game). Alexander was a bit tired going into their semi-final game against Hornell and they got down 1-0 early. They battled back and for the first time in this group's history they passed an indirect kick across the front of the goal and scored as Tessa found Autumn to tie the game at one. Unfortunately this momentum didn't carry on as Hornell scored a late goal to eliminate Alexander from the tournament in the semi-finals. Alexander came away from the day with a 2-2-1 record and played quite well in their 1st game and last 2. Alexander showed a good deal of resiliency coming back after the 2nd and 3rd game where they played as bad as they have all winter. It was definitely a bit disappointing as the girls felt they had a team that should have won the tournament - but thats not how it worked out. The girls all had moments of great soccer and moments in the other direction, but they should be very proud that they didn't fold up after their two terrible games and battled back into the playoffs. Lots more tournaments this winter and lots more chances to pick up a few titles. |
